Intermittent dash lights

2001 Hoe. Last night the dash cluster lights and radio light went off and stay off. The gear indicator area on the dash stayed lit.This morning it was fine. Is this a indication of the dimmer control switch going bad?

Becuase you mentioned one issue at night vs. day, have you tried turning on/off headlights to see what the dash lights do?
