Need Vapor Lock Solutions

I have a 1980 Buick Regal with 350 5.7 Chevy Small Block.

Recently I've been experiencing Vapor Lock from what I've read. The symptoms I'm having are: Engine sputters and hesitates, when I turn it off to go into the store or w/e for about 10-20 mins then I try to turn it back on it has a rough time starting and staying on.

So I'm fairly positive it's Vapor Lock as I've checked everything else it could be. What I need to know is how to solve this problem. What can I use to insulate the fuel lines and fuel pump(mechanical).

It could be or may not be. Is that with the Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor? I had the same engine (LM1) in a '79 Camaro Z28. Are you sure there is sufficient fuel pressure and fuel in the float bowls? What happens when you hold the accelerator open just a small bit like 1/8 and hold it there. Do not pump the gas pedal.

Nah I have a Edelbrock 4 barrel, I'm positive there's sufficient fuel pressure and fuel in the bowls. Runs fine when I hold the accelerator open. Only problem I have is when the engine is up to temp and I shut it off for short periods of time then starting it back up. Have to hold the ignition for a while and pump the pedal to get it started then it won't run right on idle till I get it going again on the road.

With everything I've read from various places vapor lock is my issue.

What other aftermarket mods do you have? I'm not a fan of Edelbrock carbs. I've modded a few Chevy small blocks and stick with Holley only. Have you tried the standard 1/2" - 1" insulator between the carb and intake manifold?

I'm not exactly a fan of edelbrock carbs either but it was the cheapest thing next to quadrajet and I wasn't gonna get one of those. Fairly basic set up. Edelbrock carb, edelbrock intake, stock heads, stock block(cylinders bored 40 over) stock cam, stock everything else as far as the engine goes. Nope haven't tried a insulator. There is something I missed though. I didn't have this problem till recently, I bought a new intake an basic edelbrock, the first one I had (when there wasn't this issue) I had a RPM Performer Edelbrock intake which is a high rise intake. So the switch from the before intake to the intake I have now lowered the carb about 1 inch could that be the issue?

here is food for thought check the float level on it . here is what happens with a high float level the fuel continues to drip in the carb and creates a sipon effect and drains the carb so next time run it then shut it down and look down the carb i have seen this happen

Re: Need Vapor Lock Solutions

If problem still, install some aftermarket colling radiator on fuel lines , same ones used for colling hidraulic fluid.
