Question 97 Cougar 4.6 has major problems

Car dies when moving.. When its parked (after it shut itself offs on its own) it wont crank unless you hold down the throttle.. Sounds like it backfires sometimes while trying to crank it. When you get it cranked and as long as u don't drive the car it will turn off and crank up every time without problems..

i changed the a/c compressor 2 days ago and when i did it wouldn't crank after that. so, I unplugged the a/c compressor and it cranked up. plugged it back in and it worked for 2 days.

The crank position sensor is right next to the compressor and the wiring for both run through the same loom.

could this be a wiring issue or could this be a crank position sensor issue?

I would open the loom and inspect the wire in this area. Also check for a loose plug.
