Detriot Electrac

Does anyone know anything about the detroit electrac lsd/electric locker? Will it fit the Xterra? And is it a quality locker?

Electrac

From another list:

I have about 25K of ,,, uh ,,,hard driving on the one in my YJ.

I've checked it twice in that time,,, no loose bolts.

Leanard installed mine, I think he used heavy lock-tight.

I do know that if the bolts are not torqued on installation they will
come loose.

I LIKE mine, but I liked the ARB better. I miss the ability to
have the open diff in Icy weather. The torque bias in the True Trac is
fairly high and its skittish on wet ice.

The Electrac is not currently designed for third-member applications like the H233B. It requires a modified rear diff cover for the actuator, third-member diffs don't have covers to modify. It would be an almost complete re-design to start producing third-member applications, not likely.

man that pisses me off, all of us as xterra owners need to get together, tell a company what we want, and prove that there is a big demand for it. List the names of all the people that would want a modification for there xterra and how much they would be willing to pay to show that an interest is out there. We need to get calmini to make an electric locker since they back nissan (wishful thinking). I get so tired of seeing tons and tons of jeep accessories and parts and so many jeeps that are lifted and hooked up on the roads, why not xterras, damn!!

That's been attempted several times since 2000 and it's never come to anything. You have to realise that even though you see more Xterras on the road, only 5% actually take them off pavement (even less are ever in situations that would require a locker). That makes for a very small market and companies just don't want to use resources that could be used to design for other vehicles like Jeeps, Toyotas, etc.

ARB has a locker. Why not go for that?

i heard the arb locker is good; however, i'd have to get an air compressor, air tank, hoses (unless there included), and then the locker. Also, i heard that eaton was coming out with an air locker that would be better than the arb. Finally, the arb is an open diff/locker, not like the lsd/locker. i'd just like to have an electric locker it would save the hassle of having to get all the extra parts.
