Porsche rally car help

I'm off on a Porsche rally car slant at the moment, but need a little colour help. Already have in the stash decals for Therier's ESSO car from Corsica, Nicolas' GITANES Monte car, the MARTINI Safari car as well as Bjorn's Safari kit by Fujimi.
But I've just recently found Fujimi's 911 R & S kits which I want to make up as Vic Elford's 68 Monte & Bjorn's 69 or 70 Monte. So my questions are:
1 does anyone know roughly what colour red Porsche used on their factory cars back then & would the interior be pretty much stock colours?
2 any ideas on where to source vintage sponsor decals used on rally cars back in the 60's i.e. Dunlop, Cibie, Bosch, etc, etc. I remember seeing an eBayer with these some years ago but haven't seen them for awhile now.

p.s. also have in mind doing the Prodrive Rothmans 959 rally car but am a little daunted by the amount of scratch building needed

Can't help you with the colour but you may want to try Modelworks or Little Cars for the decals. I'm sure I got a generic decal sheet with the Cibie decal on it from Modelworks a year or so back.

For the decals you may talk about www.decals43.com which also sell on Ebay.

The red used over the Porsche wasn't the same the three years, it was bright red in 69 & 70 but more orange in 68.
It's not so easy to determine because the 69/70 red appeared really orange-like under the light (as the 99 focus red did).
I suppose that the TS-49 could suit, or maybe the RAL-3020 (bastos red).
But it will be hard to get a perfect match between those former colors and actual color range without any precise reference.
One of the solution can be to find the color ref given by MiniRacing which released the kit, maybe someone here still has the building instructions (I do not, I sold my kit...)

There's a picture at page # 57 of the "Porsche 911 Rally & Comp." book by Jorg Austen where the '70 911ST looks dressing an orange-red: not like a Jaeger orange but definitely not Ita red: peoples faces are quite red (much magenta on the shot) so I guess it may be even more orange. Sorry 68/69 soth are black/white. '72 Monte 911S in white/orange livery (Waldegard/Thor..) looks way cool too.

I'm planning the best solution for the SC too: easy job on the Martini (well some bull bar to do..) , I'm thinking of use a Esci spoiler (shortened) on a Fuji Carrera to achieve the Gitanes and Esso liveries.

Mmm believe me Gio you're wrong, it's not orange or even "more orange than red" as you think according to the book picture, and yes it's not "ita red" if you mean TS-8 but it's not orange neither but really is a bright red. the color effect is the same as for the 99 focus which on most pictures appeard orange (followed by some manufacterers btw) whereas it was red, or for the red parts of the 97/98 Peugeot 306 Maxi livery, which also appeared orange in the light (Modeler's did those decals parts orange ) but really were red.
that's precisely the problem with book pictures, even if there are some here and there that better show that red color, i'll try to find them back and scan them if I can.

waiting for that you can also refer to the 1/43 miniracing or starter models which used the good color match, also did IXO (so rare to be noticed )

The following picture taken far from the cars (flash light as no effect on the color) also shows the red beside the red of the Lancia and the orange of the Opel roof.

I don't want to contradict the others or play the one who knows but believe me I'm right about that color.
this was and still is a running subject on other forums... And even manufacterers sometimes make the color confusion.

Thanks Phil. I managed to find some good ref pics before the weekend of Vic's 68 car + Waldegaard's & Larousse's cars. They definitely look a bright red - almost similar to the brighter red Ferrari used on their 312 F1 cars in the mid 70's
