1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa
Hi All
I am working on the above model and would like to add as much detail to the engine/interior as possible. I have loads of images gathered from the net, but was hoping that someone out there may have a more detailed resource such as a workshop service manual that I might be able to purchase/borrow (delete as necessary) or a copy of something on a CD/DVD. I am willing to reimburse for any hassle incurred. I will post up some images of the little progress I have already made in a short while. thx Steve |

Try this for size.
http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partTabl...A=2&B=31699&S= If you go back on the menu bar there you will find sections for mechanical and coachwork. Good luck |

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa
Steve,
Glad to see someone tackling this. I've gotten into the large scale stuff, so much you can do with them. I've seen this thing pop up on ebay and have been wondering about the quality of the kit. I can't wait to see some progress!

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa
Hi guys
Cheers lotus123 and tony126c2 for your links. The detail is amazing and should do the job just fine. For colour information I will use the official ferrari site which has some brilliant images of the engine, body, interior and suspension. It is here in a Flash presentation. http://www.ferrari.com/English/Ferra...ideshow&cat=22 Russell - The kit, although huge, doesn't seem to have as much detail as one would expect at this scale. Having said that though, the body looks good and overall the kit should benefit from some additional detailing. I think it is a good modellers kit, in that a fair amount of extra work is needed to make it really come alive. By the way I lucked out and got an Airfix 1/12 Bentley Blower off of eBay the other day....just waiting for it to arrive...postal strike permitting. I had one of these when I was a kid many moons ago and cant wait to get the box open..... By the way has anyone used the photo-etched sets produced by Scale Details which I found here; http://www.scaledetails.com/ProductE...roductID=38240 there are 2 sets; would it be worth getting both? I will post photos shortly. Many thanks again Steve |

Re: 1/12 Revell Ferrari Testarossa
Agree with Tony126c2 - don't see much Testarossa there. Lots of Pocher on that website though. I've got a Pocher Testarossa here, waiting for my modelling skills to improve before it gets a makeover!
Here's a thought. I've also got the Airfix Bentley, and I decided as soon as I opened the box for the first time that it needed a whole lot more than Airfix provided. I put it on hold until I learn how to do my own photo-etch (or rather, until I make a proper etching tank). There are some great builds on this forum where guys have done their own etching and parts fabrication, and I'm convinced that's the only way to build the Bentley and the Pocher Testarossa. The Bentley is a special case because you also need to learn how to make wire wheels and bonnet louvres (like Gerald Wingrove - see his website for more on that topic). Back to the Testarossa - I got inside one a while back and took a lot of pictures. Let me know which area you're light on and I'll check if I have anything. Graham |

first images
I took these this arvo.
I have an airbrush and comp on order...should be here early in the week. Then I can really get stuck into painting the bugger. I will probably give the Zero paint a go (Rosso Corsa if I'm not mistaken!) The Box! ![]() Body shell. A couple of coats of Tamiya Fine Surface Primer light grey and a couple of TFSP white. As you can see from the green pen marks a few areas need a little bit more attention. There were a couple of nasty mold lines down the front and a couple more at the back which took some correcting. I'll finish up by wet sanding with some fine Micro Mesh. ![]() ![]() ![]() Body panels given the same treatment. ![]() The tub has been primed using Hycote grey primer (not the plastic one). ![]() The floor pan has been part brush painted. ![]() Engine parts have been hand painted so far. I haven't found a piece yet that hasn't got a mold line. ![]() The front shocks were hand painted Revell acrylic fiery red and silver ![]() The rear shocks were hand painted revell acrylic fiery red, masked up and then sprayed Humbrol acrylic satin black. ![]() After a good wash (me and the parts ) and a squint through the instructions I desprue and bag up the pieces according to step ranges.![]() ![]() ![]() As I don't have an indoor spray area I'm at the mercy of the elements so next on the agenda will be to lay down the base coat and get the clear on and then let it cure before rubbing out and polishing while the weather is clement. Cheers guys for your help thus far. Graham, I'll let you know if I need any images. As for roll your own PE and wheels, I'm just getting back into modelling after a good many years and all this new fangled merde is a little overwhelming at the mo. But I enjoy it and we'll see were we get to. A lot of the work done by other members here is truly impressive..some are true works of engineering and art. Toodle pip for now Steve |
