Electrical Help - Swapped Motor

Let me start off by saying hey everyone.

Here is my issue. 1996 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 4.3L Vin W 4L60E Automatic Transmission

I swapped my motor with a 4.3L Voretec from a 1997 S10. I had to swap some parts but not many. I got it all hooked up. Here is the details with pictures.

I removed my 4.3L and all wires except the tranny wires. I put in a newer 4.3L and hooked it all up.

When you hook the battery up the DRL, and the SES, ABS, Etc Lights on the dash come on with no key in it. The fuel gauge and battery gauge both kick on aswell.

I hooked the grounds on the back of the block back up, all the wires not 1 single wire left unplugged. The only wires I am concerned with is 2 wires with O ring connectors that went to what looks like a "Bus" Bar on the driver side fender well behind the abs. I couldn't remeber exactly where they went so I hooked them together.

Any ideas? I Don't beleive this is a ground issue I think something is crossed or hooked in the wrong place somewhere.

HELP!!

Ok I have some pictures to help yall help me.

The wire I am hooking up causing all my problems is on the bust bar driver side fender behind the abs and master cylinder. It runs in the harness and to the back of the alt. If you remove it at the bus bar or the alt you get nothing on the inside of the truck at all. With it hooked up you get the DRL, Gas & Batt Gauge On and interior lights. With the key on you get everything.

If you got and disconnect the wire behind to alt (not the battery wire) the other wire it will all turn off so I know its the other end of this wire.

I need to know what could be causing this issue, maybe something else if not right and thats the cause of my current problems. At this point I do not have a single plug from the harness unplugged.

#1 The Wire - Red, O Ring Hook. It runs with 1 other wire back to the Alt. If either end is disconnected you have nothing inside the vehicle with ignition on or off.

#2 This is where the wire is hooked, its only soo long and this is the only spot I could find for it. When hooked up I get the symptons I previously said.

#3 Pictures of whats going on with the ignition OFF and the key OFF.

#4 Pictures Of The Ignition ON

#5 Are these starter wires connected right??

Sorry for the blury pics, the humidity must have blurred the cam

THE WIRE IN MY HAND IS THE WIRE MAKING MY STUFF DRL, GAS GAUGE, BATT GAUGE, FUEL PUMP, ETC. THE OTHER WIRE IS THE TRAILER WIRE. YOU CAN SEE THE ONE IN MY HAND GOING INTO THE HARNESS AND THE OTHER ONE GOING UNDER THE TRUCK ITS THE TRAILER WIRE.

THERE IS ALSO A BLACK WIRE WITH "FUSIBLE LINK" WROTE ON IT GOING INTO THE LOOM WITH THE RED WIRE, IT HAS A O RING TOO.

PICS

Re: Electrical Help - Swapped Motor

Ok I have found out the red wire in my hand causing the issue is the +12V supply to the bus bar which powers the interior stuff.

So my problem must lie somewhere else, but where?

Re: Electrical Help - Swapped Motor

From what you are telling us the wire that turns on dash stuff and lights should be hooked to a ign on feed not a battery feed..

Does it start and run and work right with engine running?

I would suggest a good wiring diagram and trace down all wires you have in the picture.

Try to find a ing on feed for the wire to dash and headlights.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Electrical Help - Swapped Motor

I have not started it up. I am comparing those wires with a 1996 Blazer 4.3L V6 4x4. Its the exact same truck and the exact same wiring as mine. Its all hooked up the same as mine. I have got to be missing something somewhere.

I am still tracing stuff and trying to find the problem. I am just getting aggrivated with it and at this point I am taking a step back for a few days and gonna hit it with a fresh mind.

EDIT: That red wire supplies power to the ignition system. Without the wire you get absolutly nothing at all. Its suppose to hook up to the bar and is a non-switched +12V source. I am beggining to wonder where my problem is. Would a bad ground cause this issue?
