Need a part or a resin-cast of a part, please! HELP!

I took a look at the 1/12 Ferrari 641/2 that I started almost 20 years ago and realized that I am missing part E-33. I really would like to see if anyone could resin cast this part for me (I'm willing to pay for time and supplies) before I try and contact Tamiya. I doubt that Tamiya would still have this, honestly.

PM me if you're willing to do this for me!

Daniel

The kit was reissued not long ago. I bet at Tamiya they have plenty of parts for you.
Just write HLJ a mail asking them to order that part for you.
It will be cheaper than a one off resin cast part, not to mention the time and effort it takes for someone to cast a part that is easily available.

Re: Need a part or a resin-cast of a part, please! HELP!

Trying to get a resin casting of a single part is the complicated, expensive way to go about it. If spare parts from Tamiya are available, it will probably be considerably faster, easier, and cheaper. I would also scratchbuild a replacement before looking for someone who might be willing/able to make a single resin copy.

Just what is E33?

Try to call tamiya, their number is on one of their websites. Customer service, and request the parts tree. I did it with a couple sets of decals and trees.

PS. Sometimes they don't have them, but its worth a shot if it was recently reissued.

I called them this morning--discontinued in the US's system. They said they'd have to ask Japan and see what they say. This is why I asked on here, because even though it was recently re-released, it's d/c'd again. I would never ask if I didn't need it and there was no other way about it....

It's the very end of the transmission that hangs out under the rear wing. Very visible.

If anyone has a good resolution pic of the actual car, email or post it here. Maybe I can fabricate it...

I'll cast you one...I've learned how recently and it will be good practice on this shape part.

PM me for details.

PS I am not in the casting business.

Did you try HLJ? They have their ways to get things, and they are good to work with.

No, I just tried Tamiya USA. They didn't seem to know too much. Unfortunate.

That's rather typical of them. They used to have, IMHO, brilliant service. No longer. Last 3 times I contacted them for parts of current kits they indicated the kits were discontinued. I half think they don't want to bother with it and that's simply a rote excuse.

The same is now true of Tamiya UK.

I bugged the guy enough until he finally relented and said that he would let me know in a week or two if the kit was d/c'd. Well, he kept trying to say it would be 8 weeks before he would know if the kit was still in production or not! How lazy is that? How about a call to Japan to find out? Or maybe a live inventory database on line?

Jeez. I love today's version of customer service.

Just write to HLJ.
You'll have the answer by Monday.

Will HLJ order a single part? Not to hijack this thread, but I never was able to resolve my issue through Tamiya USA and I'm still looking for spare Toyota 84C and 88CV rear wings.

You can also order spare parts from Rainbow ten. I've order some missing parts for Monte Shell F40 in the past with no problems. You have to order the whole tree the part is on, not the single part itself. The back of the kit's instruction sheet will have the cost of each "tree" in YEN, rainbow ten will charge this price + %20 + shipping. Instruction for how to order spare parts is on their website.
