2001 Suburban Control Modules

2001 1500 LT. 225K miles.

Item 1. Alternator light comes on and off intermittently. Brand new alternator test out fine. Dealer ran code and tells me the Body Control module needs to be replaced.
Where is it located and can I change this myself with a used BCM?

Item 2. ABS lights are on constantly. Dealer ran codes (6 faults) and says I need new Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). I found a shop where I can have my current one rebuilt for a lot less than a new one, and I'm told that it comes back 'clean' so when I plug it back in, the computer will automatically recognize it and set it.
Does anyone have experience with replacing the EBCM?

Thanks.

first before spending any money check all grounds ,,,especially the one directly under the driver seat on the exterior frame rail near where the abs pump/lines are...this ground needs cleaning..

to properly test the alternator the output current should be measured...the BCM could be a problem as it may not correctly read the alternator output...if this started when the new alternator was installed I would guess its the new alternator..

Re: 2001 Suburban Control Modules

Thanks for the info. I'll check the ground for sure.

The alternator light problem started before I had the new alternator installed, and did not go away after with new alternator.
