Another Weird AC problem

Hi guys (and gals). I have read up on the ac issues involving the 3.8 engines. I have not read anything about my weird issue. My ac will not work at any speed-- sometimes. I can hear the compressor(?) trip under the hood, but no air. The ac,recirc and fresh air lights sometimes dim. Now the weird thing is the DIC attached to the roof will not come on (illuminate). If the ac decides to work then the lights all look proper and the DIC will come on as well. I'm hoping its still the resistor and not some expensive computer module! I'm still broke after rebuilding my house down here.

I appreciate the help!!!!!

Re: Another Weird AC problem

If I understood that right. Then your AC system works fine sometimes, but when it doesn't your DIC goes out also ? If so I am sorry to say but that sure sounds like a short in either the control module or the control head. Neither one is cheap.

Yes, you understand. Also , when this is happening, the cruise light will come on as well and sometimes blink. Now it will come on after a few minutes. Of It comes on at level 6, it will turn off after lowering it down to 2 or 3.
I truly hope it's not too bad. How do Igo about checking this out?
Thanks for the replies.

Re: Another Weird AC problem

I am afraid that your friendly neighborhood GM dealer is going to be the only people with the means to trace that out. They are the only ones who can distinguish a flawed programing from a shorted component with their test equipment. Anyone else would just be guessing without it.
