Re: 94' grand prix

Check the battery terminals and cables for corrosion.

Then bring the battery in to have it load tested on a vat40. Autozone or advance will do it for free.

Could the ignition switch be bad and causing the problem.

Re: 94' grand prix

Check you fuses?

I was doing some electrical work on my '93 and shorted out a circuit. Had NOTHING. Blew a 60 amp fuse under the hood.

Worth a try I suppose uh?

Re: 94' grand prix

does anything turn on?

you might wanna check the ground wire from the battery to the frame

edit: nvm, you said it turns over. check the ignition module...they are pretty common on the older 3.1's

Re: 94' grand prix

How is everybody today?Fine I hope.Well I was able to find a used ignition control module, coil pack and all for fifty bucks,I put it on and still nothing.By the way I had the ignition switch changed about five years ago.And could you tell me what male connector that plugs into a female connector that is located in the underside of car on drivers side I don't know what that is.Well I'll be looking for broken wire tommorrow if it doesn't rain in these parts. Thanks for your help.

Re: 94' grand prix

Grab a multimeter and find out what the deal is. Sounds like a corrosion/battery cable issue to me.

Re: 94' grand prix

As Tim suggested, you may have an internally corroded battery cable. You need to measure resistance across both the + and - cables. Also, your positive cable has a branch in it. One end goes to the starter solenoid, the other to the underhood fuse center so make sure you check both.

Re: 94' grand prix

could the problem be in the fuse box under hood, because some of the fuses are loose and when I test with with test light only certain fuses that I touch with the light light up in that fuse box,and when I checksd other fuse box all fuses in there light up with no problem. The fuse that is in question is the one that say's ECM/BAT and it say's it controls power control module, fuel pump/oil pressure switch, fuel pump relay.I don't know how to use a multimeter, sorry.I went back later and checked it with a test light now that box and fuses are not getting any fire I am confused
