Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

The 22s probably just put alot of strain on an old transmission, and put the Nail in the coffin. how long have you had the car, Have you ever changed the transmission fluid? Sounds like It's never there is no OTHER transmissions you can swap in, Need to get a replacement 4T65-E or get yours rebuilt.

Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

Not sure how much a shift kit would help with 22s/24s but I'd recommend the Intense Shift kit, Only one with New springs, Not spacers for existing springs:
http://intense-racing.com/Merchant2/...ategory_Code=T

And if you get it rebuilt, Make sure they throw in a Sonnax SureCure Kit (Sonnax Part # SC-4T65E )

Will make sure the Typical BS that happens on these Transaxles doesn't happen again if thats what went wrong (Failing Solenoids, leaking Valve body etc)

Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

i went to 3shops 2day...one said bring it back to run it on a computer so he can read it but he said 1175 ta rebuild...another said itz internal damage because its slipping only in over drive and he said that theres no need to run it on a computer because that jus checks sensors and from what im describing is internal damage but he wont know untill he opens it up but he charges 425 jus to open it up and look and then he said it mite be anywhere from 700-1700 but idk because he wont scan it...What should i do???? and the last shop said if he ran it nothing would come up because the check engine light isnt on..we took it for a ride and it didnt slip with the stocks on..i need a new catalayic converter because the light came on once and we ran it but i never switched it and the lights off now and he said that might b a reason y its sluggish but the reving up and down when i try to accelerate he dosent know..since it didnt do it with the stocks on he said put the 22s back on and bring it back so he can feel it so he has an idea whats wrong with it...he also said 899 to rebuild....What should i do people????

Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

Well if you DO need a Cat either way, That'd be the cheaper route to take. as you could confuse symptoms of a Clogged Cat with transmission problems.

Secondly, the MOST common Trans code (P1811) DOESN'T Set a check engine light. So you COULD have that code, even tho no Check engine light is on..

Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

ok...2day i put it on the scanner and nothing came up...took it for a ride while he scanned it and once again nothing! no reving up or down..but question when i bought the car with 110k i ran it on the scanner and nothing on motor or tranny...found this odd and double checkd and the box that the computer reads was missing...bought the box and re scanned it and all the lights came up for the whole cooling system on the motor was shot; so is it possible the tranny maybe missing the box? but instead of switching the cat i just droped in a straight pipe and it ran a lil better with the stocks. Onther shop told me put the 22s back on and bring it by so he can feel the jump up and down because with the stocks it only does it once and a while and it just so happens it does it when im riding by myself. but the mechanic who read it 2day assured me that the tranny is fine because if it wasnt a code would have came up and the 02sensor(cat) came up even though the check engine light wasnt on..now that i have a straight pipe instead of a cat its on...but is it possible that the tranny is fine???? i find it odd if it was...i put 22s on at 130k and now its jumping with the 22s at 150k...well the 22s are back on so im taking it for a ride 2mor to c if the straight pipe makes the difference and to bring it 2another shop but i doubt the cat fixed it..btw how do i reset the change engine oil light? when i first crank it it comes up but after like 20sec its off. any help "HeMi 101"??????

Re: 01 monte ls on 22s (TRANNY PROBLEMS)

JUST FYI if you have a strait pipe in there with no cat, you will get P0420 (the Cat Inefficiency code) but don't worry bout it. Just means it thinks the cats NOT doing it job (Which seeing nothings there, It's not).

To reset the oil Mon: IF you have the OEM Radio, Hold " < TUNE > " Till "SETTINGS" Comes up, and Press " < SEEK > " Till you see Oil Mon reset. If you don't have that radio, Turn the car to ON, But dont start it. Press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times.

As for the Trans, I'm really not sure what to think. at this point No codes what so ever, Im not sure whats up. I'm not sure what else to tell you on this one man, sorry.
