Question a20->b18 head swap???

I don't know if it's possible buut.. I have a Gen3 accord with an A20A1 engine and my brother is doing a frankenstein VTEC swap.. so I was wondering if it would be possible to use his old head on my car.. he has a B18A1..

PS: I know it probs won't work.. but if it could, that wold kick A$$

cant mix and match engine families like that.

A's with A's, and B's with B's

no cross breeding allowed.

yeah you could, cuz they are both H series.

you can do it with the D series too. and I am not sure, but im guessing with the F and K and whatever other kind of engines honda has come out with.

yes you can mix and match motor families, buts they arent all bolt and run affairs, some you need special oil lines ran, wiring conversion, port matching, etc.

yeah, i knew about the oil lines, I am planning on building a CRVTEC. and knew about wiring stuff. but about port matching. isnt that something you do between the head and intake manifold or???

when yoiu put a B16 head onto the B20b block, making the head match the bore, is that called deshrouding or is that also port matching? thought I saw someonhe refer to it as deshrouding before but maybe they were talking about something different.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

all the b-series blocks have the same bore, thats why this is possible. anyhow, port matching is in reference to mating a new exhuast header or manifold to the swapped block.

lyrical poisin - yes you can.

so, if you were to bore out your cylinders... then what would you do for a head gasket?

you would prolly have have the machine shop take car eof that for you, or find a company that makes special head gaskets for the amount of boring you have done.

oh ok... that makes things much clearer

but one more thing is that i noticed the b20 actually has a different bore then the other b series, so would the head (being made for a smaller bore) not create any interfearance?
