wip: Porsche 944 sedan!

hi eveybody from AF!

this is one of my newest project! i'm turning a porsche 944 into a sedan that they never made! i wanted something different so here it is!

first, i had that revell germany porsche kit that i made last year but the finish was not to my taste and instead of stripping the paint and redoing it again, i decided to turn it into a sedan.

it's gonna be alot of work but i'm sure it will be nice!

as a donnor car, i used a 5 series from bmw (E34) from fujimi.

the rear part is now fitted in place and i'm working on the front right now. alot of cutting, glueing and putty! still not finishe! i will work on the panel lines once it's done. (btw, if someone have a good trick for that, let me know!)

so less bla bla, more pics!

here's where i'm at right now for the back

the front is now cutted away

and what's left from the 944

that's it for now!

i'm going back to work and fit that front end!

Good luck with all the bodywork coming up! The end result should be worth it though.

i just worked a bit more on it so here's some new pics

i added a rear bumper to make it look more like a sedan. of course, i will have to blend it in with the rest of the car.

front end just received the firt shot of putty

alot of sanding to come

Do you have a sketch or a photoshop mock up of what it will look like?

PS: Did you destroy a BMW model body shell for this?

i'll make a quick mock up for you as soon as my sanding work is done for the front

and yes, i used a bmw 5 series to convert it to 4 doors.

at least, both are german cars from the same era

Re: wip: Porsche 944 sedan!

more update from tonight

i sanded alot to get the shape i wanted for the back end. now the trunk is almost flush and the quarters are sanded to what it could look like (the shape)

i applied putty to the rear bumper to give it's shape. it's now drying but i don't have pics of this step.

of course, more to come!

Re: wip: Porsche 944 sedan!

Very interesting idea. Too early to tell so far, but the BMW lines are so strong with the center section. Especially the rear door window kink that they are so well known for. You should try to redo something with the greenhouse, like chop it, or somehow somekind of porsche design quarter windows. I know the blending will go perfectly. The workmanship is great so far. The space between the doors and front and rear wheelwells looks just a little long, but this looked like the best way with how the kits lines would work together. And already, it looks better than porsche's attempt at that panamera monstrosity. Keep up the great work!

Great job. Looks to me that you matted the BMW and Porsche parts well.

Looking forward to see it on primer.

Re: wip: Porsche 944 sedan!

I agree with Frank. Once you get the front and rear looking how you want them, I'd attempt to do something with the main part of the body to help lose that BMW feel

Other than that, its looking great so far!

I'm having some trouble with my photobucket tonight. I don't have photoshop on this computer yet so I threw something together in Paint. Kind of following the shape of the rear quarter glass on the porsche.
