98 zx2 timing belt changed wont start

i replaced the timing belt and a new component kit. belt was walking off sprocket. i adjusted tensioner it seemed fine. 2 days later car died. Turns over, it has spark and fuel, belt was hitting cover and frayed but stays on when turning car over. I also checked fuel safety switch, it is working any suggestions

I noticed a spring for the tensioner thats supposed to be installed with a new belt and tensioner. Apparently Ford didn't install the spring. Also check for a guide on one of the pulleys to keep the belt on. I always start and watch before installing the cover.
Make sure you check your manual.

There are two special tools for holding the two cams and crankshaft in the proper position for belt replacement. After they are secured, the cam sprockets must be aligned on the camshafts. If not, the belt can be shredded in a very short time.
