Re: 1992 saturn with codes 53, 48 and 26

all your codes have to do with your trans. code 26 is torque converter clutch stuck on(tcc release circuit may be leaking at seal ring on input shaft)48 hold mode volt low poss pcm/tc 53 hold mode stuck off 1991&1992 only again pcm/tc. if you disconnect batt for over 10 sec will reset pcm but need to fix trans or change pcm.since this is older brain and wont need to be flashed to veh it should be around $100 or so at auto parts store but if you still get same codes you will have to deal with trans.

now i really suspect pcm all those codes are involving automatic trans or bad pcm. if you car is stick i dont understand codes. did you try clear codes by remove one batt terminal to see if recode? i have a 89 gt mustang that started coding all diff things each time i cleared codes. i changed brain and all went good, just food for thought.

Re: 1992 saturn with codes 53, 48 and 26

I have read about ONE pcm EVER going bad. That is it.

Replace your ECTS (2 wire connector). Change your transmission fluid and filter. Check all connectors to the tranny.

The ECTS controls MANY VITAL sub systems including transmission operations. Its one of the first things to go and will set off codes OTHER than those pertaining to the ECTS itself.

Check your charging system. These cars are VERY Sensitive to proper voltages

Code 26:
Quad Driver Output Fault
A quad driver module is a semiconductor device capable of controlling four separate outputs. Each output of the QDM is an open collector which when turned on pulls the output to ground. A load is connected between 12 volts and the driver. When the output is turned ON, current flows from the battery, through the load, through the driver to ground. Each QDM has a fault line feedback. A comparison of the driver input and output states is performed. If the input and output are in the same state, a fault will be detected. Each QDM has only one fault line that will detect a fault on any of the four outputs.

Code 48 Hold Mode Voltage Low On 1991 and 1992 vehicles the amount of electrical current required to energize an
actuator is greater than the amount of current required to hold an actuator in the
closed position. Hold mode is a feature built into the PCM that reduces current
draw of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th actuators when the clutches are being held off.

Code 53:
Hold Mode Stuck Off On 1991 and 1992 vehicles the amount of electrical current required to energize an
actuator is greater than the amount of current required to hold an actuator in the
closed position. Hold mode is a feature built into the PCM that reduces current
draw of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th actuators when the clutches are being held off.

Re: 1992 saturn with codes 53, 48 and 26

in his first post he says he forgot to say the car is a standard i pointed out his codes are for automatic maybe someone put wrong brain in who knows.I cant believe half the posts, but I already stated these codes refer mostly to tc in automatic trans. oh ps he edited his first post after i stated all his codes have to do with his tranny

OP:
Did you do a tranny swap?
Did you swap PCM's at all?
