In order to install my 6000k HID kit i wish to know how to turn the daylights function off.

I have no idea how to do this!

If there is no fuse directly related to the Daytime running lights, then the next step is to disconnect the relay. According to my manual, the Daytime running light relay (DRL relay) is located on the back of the front impact bar. It should have 5 wires running out of it.

If the Car has DRL WITH Fog lights, the wire colours will be:

Black
Light Green/Black stripe
Orange
Light Green
Dark Green/White stripe

DRL WITHOUT Fogs:
Black
Orange
Orange
Light Green/Black stripe

Hey, i just finished installing my HID kit
and I managed to disconect a plug behind the front impact bar
that DID turn off the daylights.. BUT!!

The airbag light turned on in the cluster and I conected it back.

HELP.

Glad you found the plug.

It turns out I gave you the wrong wire colours going into the DRL relay for your car. However, the location is correct, which is behind the front impact bar. My apologies.

So lemme describe the plug to you again just so you can verify it's the right relay you're disconnecting...

5 wires going into the relay (with or without fog lights):

Dark Blue
Black
Light Green/Black stripe
Orange
Orange

Info About the Airbag light:

According to my manual, when you start the vehicle, the Airbag Warning Light will blink on/off seven times if the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) is operating properly. If there is a fault in the system,the light will remain on (obviously).

According to the wiring diagram, the DRL is controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM) in the instrument cluster. The BCM *only* controls the lights on your car... daytime, hi/lo beam headlamps, fog lights, turn and hazard lights. It should have nothing to do with the SIR. So the airbag light popping up is a head-scratcher.

The one thing I can think of is there is an Airbag component called the DERM - Diagnostic/Energy reserve module in the center part of the dash. This supplies power to the airbag system in the event of loss of power in a collision.

Of course, it must always be said that anyone other than a proper mechanic working in proper facilities should never, ever attempt to work on airbag components, even if we're just talking about unplugging/plugging components in... it can be quite dangerous - see Youtube airbags.

But enough with the service annoucements... the reason why I mention this here is that it's important to verify the relay and wires of the plug you're working with. It's *possible* you may have inadvertently unplugged the DERM as it is in the same location. I doubt it though, just worth a second look.


What you can try right now:

1. Confirm you have the right plug by double checking the wires on the plug you disconnected with the wires I gave above. I'm sure you had it right the first time, but it pays to be picky in these things.

2. It's possble that the airbag code appearing is a blip - which can happen when you're pulling plugs left and right trying to install something. There are two ways to check that out.

A - The best method... If you have access to a scan tool, make a note of the codes that it displays (post them here as pre-install codes). Now install your HID again, and use the tool to delete the codes on your system. Start the vehicle again with your new HID system installed. Wait a few minutes to see if the codes reappear. Again, grab the new codes as POST-install codes. Your local Walmart, Canadian Tire or automotive store might have a program that will loan you a scan tool.

B - Not-so-good method (can't check the codes)... disconnect the battery (clears the codes entirely). Install your HID again. Connect the battery and see if the codes resurface.

Hope that gives you more to go on.
