Pool tables, anyone?

Does anyone have pics of their pool tables and would you mind sharing how much it cost? I am looking into getting one for my den in a few months. I am gonna go pricing them at some point in the next few weeks.

I don't know how much you know about pool/tables... Olhausen are the best tables in my opinion, and like many other things, the more you spend, the more you get... I've seen tables go for as high as $21,000... the ones I usually play on cost about $10,000 a piece, and they are incredible to play on.. absolutely perfect. Also, with your den, be sure that you reinforce your floor underneath the table.. like measure out where the legs are, then go underneath the house and stack cinderblocks until they touch the floor, preferably until they actually put pressure back onto the floor pressing up.. if you don't, your floor could warp eventually, and in a worse case scenario with a really heavy table the table can actually fall through the floor (SUCKS when that happens, cause the table usually gets destroyed. But, like I said, the more you spend, the more you get, and no matter how much you spend, take care of it.. spend a couple hundred extra and get the brushes to keep the cloth smooth and clean, and get nice balls, etc. Take care of it and you can probably get almost what you paid if/when you re-sell it.

geez thats kinda much don't ya think i have played on quite a few pool tables and most of 'em were in a 2-4000 range thats Canadian funds too so i say you should be able to get a real decent pool table for about 2g's U.S also i bet if you find an older pool table you could fix up you would save a lot of money by gettin a used model

I bought a rather nice pool table for about 1200 bux brand new- they came and set it up and everything. it was red felt and the 7 foot size( i think) it was a foot shy of regulation or something.
It was fun for a while, but in my apartment I really had no space to use it properly, so pretty much a waste of money, I ended up having to move and I gave it to a guy that had a 'hang out' house that he rented with a bunch of freinds.
And they are not comfortable to have sex on. At all!

I play on professional 9' tables.. They play like liquid silk... muah... and older tables can sometimes cost more than new ones... There's one down at Murphy's that dates to 1835-ish, and is valued at over $35,000. Beauuutiful beautiful table.. They don't make em like that anymore..

TMI!!!!

As for pool tables, the price varies ALOT. My friend has one, its nothing really fancy, but it looks good and plays good. He payed $4000CDN for it. But I have heard that the sky is the limit, you could probably get a table made out of gold, if you had the cash

Thanks for the input. I am looking to spend around $3-5,000 and want a 9ft table. 94SolGrl, I'll keep Olhausen in mind, hopefully they have something a little closer to my budget. You said to reinforce the floor underneath...the flooring underneath my carpeting is concrete. So would I still need to reinforce it? I know the carpeting will be pretty much flattened there but that's a given. I am thinking of going with a navy felt since I am doing the house up in blue accents

BTW Ci5ic i like your pool area and the wall of names...pretty neat idea One of the walls in my den is actually brick

Yes, you'll still want to enforce it. It is really important it has as much support as possible.

www.olhausenbilliards.com ... they have tables for just about every budget... from the sleek ultra modern looking ones to ones that look like they came from one of the old pool bar paintings. I think their cheapest table is gonna run you about $800 or so... check out the website and play with the styles and finishes and stuff... just to let you know, my fave is in their contemporary collection.. the waterfall one.. looks toight.
