Brake Line Rusted Out

I just thought I would let you know that my passenger side brake line rusted thru and started leaking last week on my 99 LeSabre with 150k on it.. Mechanic fixed it for $120 and it was bad from the front all the way to the back. He said that side goes first because the road salt runs off to that side of the road more so.

Anybody else had this problem?

Re: Brake Line Rusted Out

Just did the same thing to my 98 Lumina, the new line is poly coated to prevent this.

Re: Brake Line Rusted Out

yes all my brake lines have rusted out, I live the snow belt, the salt eats them up
Right side near fuel filter , replaced with rubber hose from fuel filter back to tank( 120 bucks)
Both brake lines from front to back from the ABS to tank. One was leaking, the other one was on its way so I had both replaced. (550 bucks parts and labor 3 hrs)
This fall I am going to rust proof the bottom of the car to protect the work I just had done.

Re: Brake Line Rusted Out

Since I always own older cars I get under the car and spray all the lines with this rust converter. It comes in a spray can. This allows to reach most areas. Just spray and let it drip. Then paint after it drys. This can save quite a bit of money down the road.

This rubber hose to tank from filter, I hope this is high pressure fuel hose, or it will burst at some point.
