ok first race was good, from a dig, i took off a lil early (lol ill admit) but we stayed neck and neck the whole time. next race. my clutch started slipping baddddd, so he beat me of course.

the rpms told me the car was spinning, but it wasnt, lol. and after the second run, i smelled something burning bad...clutch right???

if so. where a good, id say stage 2 or 3 clutch and prolly flywheel i can get for a good price?? ips?? thanks in advance

im looking at the spec stage 3 clutches for like 330 on ips. how long do they last?

Get a full face clutch. You do NOT want a pucked clutch.

I'm a fan of ACT clutches myself. I think you can get a kit for around $400 shipped with IPS.

Dont waste the money on a lighter one. The car sucks to drive with one and it doesnt really help with power. I can buy 6 stock flywheels from AutoZone to your one Unorthodox. The money spent to power gained ratio is skewed on that one.

I can hook you up with a Spec clutch or on ACT for you car.. I can also get you a flywheel if you choose to go that way. Fidanza Unorthodox Spec what ever one you want.

Re: my sl vs. volvo c30....i needa clutch

Pucked is much more grabby and not slippable like a full face. Because of that most pucked clutches only last 10k miles at most.

Full faces can last anywhere from 40k-100k or maybe more.

Re: my sl vs. volvo c30....i needa clutch

I have an opposite opinion on the aluminum flywheels. I've used Unorthodox, Fidanza, and Cutchmaster aluminum flywheels, as well as stock ones in my VR4. With the aluminum flywheel, the engine revs quicker and I noticed some improvement in my 1/4 mile times at the track. For daily driving, you must rev the engine a little higher when starting from a stop to avoid dumping the clutch and stalling, but it's no big deal once you get used to it.

As far as clutches, I've installed 12 clutches of different varieties in my car, and another 45 clutches for other Stealth/GT owners. Few of the pucked clutches lasted very long, and made it difficult for daily driving due to the chatter, shudder, and grabiness of that type of clutch. The most popular clutch of choice among my customers has been by far the Stage 2 TZ clutch from South Bend Clutch. It uses a full-faced disk with Kevlar surfaces. On my car, that clutch worked well for many miles both on the street and at the track, and that was with just under 500 crank horsepower. As I kept modding my car, I eventually overpowered that clutch and sold it to another owner who is still using it today in his 450hp RT/TT.

The only problem I had with that clutch was once when I tried to make 4 consecutive runs at the track with no cooling-down period, the clutch began slipping badly, but after a little while, the clutch was fine and I made another run with it. It's more expensive than the stock or Spec clutch though, but well worth it in my opinion.

Just my 2c

Jeff W.
