URGENT!! Castrol GTX EVERYONE READ THIS!!!

Has anyone else noticed how different Castrol GTX 10/30W oil looks these days? I've been using it almost exclusively for 20 years now, and the last 2 or 3 times I've changed my oil I've been alarmed at this oil's appearance. The oil now looks very thin and watery and the oil's color is a very light golden color, almost translucent. I know a lot of other people that also use this same oil, and they have all remarked about this oil in the same way. I asked Castrol about this and they gave me some BS about when and oil is lighter in color in will appear to be thinner. BS!! When I pour this oil in my engine, it's like I'm pouring water into my funnel!!

I have noticed the same thing with several other brands of oil.

Frankly, some years ago, it was a bit disconcerting to me to see oil pour out of a bottle looking dark brown, like Aunt Jemima pancake syrup...... it looked to be dirty right from the start. So, for me, clear oil is more reassuring.

I have no problem with the state of modern oils. The sophisticated engineering that is behind oil design, manufacture and testing are far more advanced than anything I can determine, by the appearance of the oil.

The SAE folks are continuously testing oils and advancing the standards by which oils are graded. Oils get better and better as time goes by, they do not get worse. If the oil appearance has changed, there is most likely a very good reason for that.
