Cool Downpipe!

finally going to let my turbos breathe a little bit. Megan Racing downpipe. Thanks again Jason and PMP!

I'm debating having a flex section welded in. What do you guys think? Would it be ok without a flex section with the poly motormounts?

Re: Downpipe!

I know a guy here locally who has that same DP and it hasn't failed him yet. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a flex section in there but I think you could go for at least a while without it. Have fun gutting the rear cat.

PS: Enjoy the sound, it rumbles and sounds phenomenal. When you get it installed to a slowish creep up to about 3.4k rpms and listen to the exhaust note! On top of that, you'll notice a pretty good power increase for just a bolt-on.

Re: Downpipe!

I would definitely get a flex section welded in. Even with my solid motor mounts and a flex I can tell where my 3sx DP has taken some abuse from a flexing drivetrain.

word. just picked one up off ebay...apparently autozone/advanced/napa doesn't sell them anymore.

Anyways, what's the going rate for an exhaust shop to weld this in for me? I have no idea and dont wanna get ripped off...should be a quick 10-min job right?

Re: Downpipe!

I had a flex section replaced at a local place (they provided the flex section) for around $50. If you bring the flex section they should be able to do it for $25.

Re: Downpipe!

To make it worth their time I would expect around $50 at least. It just all depends on the place you go to. Let us know how it turns out. Enjoy it though, it is the best BPU mod you can add IMO.

Re: Downpipe!

I have sold tons of the megans and they don't seem to crack even without the flex section. also if you would have told me, I could have had it come here first and I would have put one on for you lol.

I am just glad it got to you..

Re: Downpipe!

I just find it odd Megan doesn't put a flex in it themselves. I bought a Megan Racing dp for my TSI and it came with an AWESOME flex section.
