fuel gage/won't start

I have a 1986 gt which has been sitting for about a year. It has 46000 miles and I've had it since new. The car won't start and the fuel gage is pegged to full plus. Does this indicate a particular fiero problem?

Re: fuel gage/won't start

Welcome to AF.

Look to the wiring harness for the fuel tank. It may be disconnected, damaged or dirty at the tank connector.

A pegged fuel gauge on an older GM car means (I believe) an open (disconnected) circuit for the fuel gauge.

The fuel pump wiring shares the same harness, therefore, Imo the first place to look for the no-start condition is a non-functioning fuel pump. The 2 problems may both stem from the same problem area.
