help 2000 Z24 acting stupid

ok ive had my Z for about 5yrs now and ive never a problem until about a month ago. while driving one day I noticed that the car was very jerky when letting out the clutch. I got to my GF's and I went to rev the car up and it started sputtering. I could stomp the gas petal to the floor and the car would not go over 1000rpms, so I turned the car off and turned it back on and the car was fine. So I couple days go by and the samething happen. This time I go to take off from a stop light and everytime I hit the gas the car would bog down. I finally got it going and got it home. Also when im driving it will start bucking all over the place and if I rev the car over 3500rpm it clears up. There is no check engine light, air filter is a New K&N, Fuel filter and plugs are new too. I went and cleaned the throttle out with throttle body cleaner and now the car idles at 1500rpms all the time. Can anyone help? I changed out the TPS with a extra one I had just now and its still doing the same thing. Could it be my IAC?

Not the IAC, it would run just fine when you tried to rev it up.

Check the vacuum hose that goes from the intake manifold to the MAP sensor. It's common for them to crack through and cause problems like this. Check for codes if you haven't already. Check the fuel pressure.

ok I replaced the map vaccum line and the car still acting up. Im going to check the fuel pressure and if for some reason its off what could it be. I've replaced the fuel filter and from what I understand it cant be the fuel pump cause that will just stop working all together.

Re: help 2000 Z24 acting stupid

hey buddy i have the exact same problem you have. Ive replaced spark plugs, fuel filter, ive upgrade my gas and added fuel injection cleaner in the tank. Mine seems to bog down in from dead stop, some in 2nd and 3rd. once i get thru those 3 gears car seems to ride pretty good. My car isnt idling high by any means tho. Ive read around the forum and it could possibly be the coil module however i havent even changed mine to give you a more accurate answer on that. I def need a solution to my problem as well. I dont mind puttin new parts on the car but i def do not have deep pockets to keep doing it.

Re: help 2000 Z24 acting stupid

I have a 2000 Z24 with an automatic transmission, mine did basically the same thing and it ended up being the plastic "tower" under the metal plate that covers the spark plugs. Fairly easy to replace and costs about $50.
