Porsche Boxster Special Edition

For a dutch groupbuild I organized a cabrio build off.

My entry is this great Tamiya kit:

The wheels are nice but not on this car So i had to replace them for an better set of wheels.
I think the 19'' TechArt wheels from ScaleProduction will look great on it.

The body will be painted Bright Orange and the wheels will be painted gun metal or flat black.

I also want to add things like seatbelts etc.

Kris.

Re: Porsche Boxster Special Edition

good luck with this one...painting that one piece motor/chassis is a pain in the a$$! It was by far the biggest hurdle with my 911 GT3. If I had to do it over again, I think I would try to remove as many of the built in components as I could without making the reassembly to difficult. By the way, I can't wait to see that baby in bright orange

Re: Porsche Boxster Special Edition

Yesterday I finished school so I don't have to study anymore, and now I've more time than ever for modelling.

Yesterday I immidiatly started with the Boxster.

First I removed the moldinglines and sanded the body, and also sprayed a layer of primer on it.

With 28 Celsiuc degrees it's very fast dry, so I could paint the body in orange. After 4 coats it was enough.

I checked the chassis for modification for the new rims, but I was lucky the wheels fit the same like the original wheels. So no modifications this time
I also paint the chassis flat black.

Meanwhile I added a 3D Porsche badge on the front and added the boxster decals. I just finished the clearcoating an hour ago, so it's drying at the moment.

Re: Porsche Boxster Special Edition

Today I clearcoated the body with TS-13 Clear.

I also found out that the rearwheels are different from the frontwheels... After months..... The rearwheels has deeper spokes than the frontwheels which seems to be straigt.

The front needs some lowering but the rear is quite good. Maybe 1 or 2 mm is enough.

Re: Porsche Boxster Special Edition

do you have a plan for wheel color, I think it would look cool if you matched the body color, hehe
