Question Radiator cause water pump failure? Please help

Chevy Trailblazer 2002
4.2 Liter Inline 6

The wrong radiator was put into my vehicle because the mechanic broke my original one while doing a transmission flush. I didn't find out it was the wrong radiator until my water pump went out about 7 months later. Upon finishing the replacement of a new water pump, the new mechanic couldn't find a connector that fit my transmission cooling line to the radiator ( I later found out that the radiator was most likely purchased from a junkyard). I have to go to court over the matter (in 1 week) and will hopefully be reimbursed for my new radiator (OEM, the one that was broken to begin with) and the labor costs associated with it. I have been told that the most likely cause of my water pump failure was due to the wrong radiator. Is this true? If so, how could it be the cause? I don't want to ask for money that isn't rightfully owed, but I also can't pay for other's mistakes!

Thank You For Your Time!

Re: Radiator cause water pump failure? Please help

If the car ran and didn't overheat I assume it didn't cause the water pump to go out. If a transmission line was plugged I would be concerned about this.
How do you know the radiator is the wrong one. You will have to prove this in court if you don't have an attorney it will be very hard. I'm certain the garage will hire one.

The question isn't IF my water pump failed. It def did. Yes, my car overheated. The water pump was replaced. I do know the wrong radiator was put in because the owner admitted to it and fired the guy who did it. I will not need an attorney (nor can I have one in small claims court in the state of MI, same goes for them). The question isn't whether or not the wrong radiator was put it, or whether or not my water pump failed. The question is "Can the wrong radiator cause a water pump to fail?"

What I meant was if your car didn't overheat the pump had enough circulation and the radiator wasn't the cause of the water pump failure.

So, if my car did overheat and I did see that my water pump failed, then could the radiator have caused it? It was def the wrong radiator (the owner admitted to that). My water pupm was def bad. My car did overheat. I just need to know if there is a relation in the wrong radiator being installed and connectors being manipulated to fit...to my water pump failing.

Thanks

Also, I did not add this (probably an important detail). As soon as my car began to overheat, we first thought it may be the fan clutch because it only overheated at idle. Upon looking at it, we saw that the electric fan clutch wasn't plugged in (this was about 6 months after the wrong radiator was put in). So, could that have caused my water pump to fail?

Maybe if the engine got so hot it damaged the pump, not likely though.
