1996 - 1999 LeSabre Keyless Entry Reprogramming

1996-1999 Buick LeSabre - Transmitter Programming:

Turn ignition OFF. Connect fused jumper wire between Data Link Connector (DLC) terminals no. 8 (black/white wire) and no. 4 (black wire). Close all doors. Turn ignition on. Locks will cycle to confirm programming mode.

Press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK button on one transmitter. Wait 30 seconds, doors should lock and unlock to confirm programming.
Remove jumper wire and verify operation.

Is this correct for 1996 Buick Lesabre keyless programming. I hate to ruin my computer if its wrong. Anyone verify this?

This procedure might be for reprogramming the receiver in the car. One transmitter for my '96 Custom lost memory, I stood near car with transmitter and held down lock and unlock at same time for about 10 seconds, horn beeped and headlights flashed, and it was reprogrammed. no key in ign or anything. check in owner's manual. I was the original poster on this thread. I bought those instructions off the net, but I ended up selling the car before I ever used them. The plenum failed and was a huge expense. A week later a ball joint started going, so I got something more reliable.
