5 speed transmission issue
i have a 2.0l turbo transmission, and it grinds going into second if i shift over 3k but all the other gears shift perfect. The previous owner mention that it might be the synchronizer is bad? can i get that just fixed or is it going to cost the whole 1k to get the trans rebuilt? or just a few hundered bucks?

Re: 5 speed transmission issue
You can replace just the syncros but I donno what the cost would be to do something like this. You could call around to a few tranny shops and ask them how much they would charge to replace the syncros for 2nd and 3rd gear. Shouldn't be anywhere near a grand though.

Re: 5 speed transmission issue
so, i would need to replace the 2nd and 3rd gear sync even though second gear only grinds? hmm okay thanks for the feedback.

Re: 5 speed transmission issue
Oh my bad, I mis-read your first post. I thought it said grinding in 2nd and 3rd. But now I see it's only if it's over 3k rpm. You just need to replace the syncros in 2nd gear. Before doing that though you could try some syncromesh fluid in your tranny and that may straighten up the problem for now.
