Hello AF,

Here are the pics of the R8 PPI that I want to replicate.

Due to my limited abilities and supplies, the model will not be exactly the same, it will be modified a bit.

I started widening the wheel wells using styrene.

I then filled the gap in between the strips with milliput and added the wide body.

Sorry for the dark pictures. It was 4am.

A little feedback please. Positive or negative, bring it.

As I'm working on such a project (a personal view of a GT concept R8 I still have to go on to put something here) I'm very interested in seeing your progress. The original R8 inspiring you is really nice, but I still can't identify "PPI", can you please explain us what it is exactly ?
Do you have more pics of that car ?

Nice to see not oob builds being built. Seems like you have a challenge up a head of you with the sideskirts, hood, and rest of body parts. The widebody is coming out good.

Time for an update.

I opened up the hood for the vent.

Completely opened. Now the question is, how do I keep it open? The hood is very thick, it does not bend at all. If I just putty it, I don't think it'll be strong enough to hold it. I tried to scribe a line on the underside, it didn't work.

I didn't like how the headlight sits very deep inside, it just didn't look very realistic.

So I moved it out.

Here's a comparison.

Looking good. Be sure to check fitment of the lens for the headlight before attaching it permanently. As for the hood. I would do one of two things. Either completely remove that section and re-attach it where it angles down just a bit for the effect that you are looking for. Or, Use some styrene or something as a spacer. Then carefully use a bit of heat followed by cold water to heat the back part of the vent, then use the cool water to help it retain its new position. USE EXTREME CAUTION, if you have any reservations or fears about using the heat DO NOT do it. You can quickly turn what is looking to be a great creation into a pile a goo in a matter of seconds.

Using the heat method can work, but its risky. I would completely cut the hood vent out and then use the heat method on it to curve it in the position you want. Then cut out some sides out of styrene. Glue eveything back and then putty. Good luck.

Don't worry, I thought about the lens before I started modifying the light. Now the lens and the light actually look like one piece. And for the hood, I think I will go with the first option. I don't trust my skills with fire. Thanks for the tip!
