Angry 1998 GRAND Voyager 3.8L - Plennum Removal

I am trying to change sparks plugs, and valve cover gaskets on my 98 GV. I have removed the wiper tub and disconnected all attachements to the throttle body, rotated the aternator bracket. The only thing left for me to do is disconnect the wire harness. Unfortunately I cannot set the bolt or easilt acces it. How do I go about removing the plennum?

Helppppp!!!

You don't necessarily have to remove the wiring harness. I diconnected the wires at the alternator and pulled the plenum out with the harness attached. Keep in mind that I didn't take the plenum completely out, I just rotated it towards the driver's side and out of the way.

Make sure you do a good job of cleaning the mating surfaces, you don't want to end up with an intake leak. Also, while you're there I would advise changing the 02 sensor if it's over 30K miles old. It's much easier to access now rather than later.

Good luck.

Re: 1998 GRAND Voyager 3.8L - Plennum Removal

I change my rear plugs on a 97 with a 3.3 using a 3/8th drive ratchet with a 30 or so inch extension and flex/joint spark plug socket...do it flat on my back with the van jacked up. Run the socket/extension up the exhaust manifold path to the plugs. Hard to see what I'm doing but it works...almost have to do it by feel to get the socket onto the plugs..especially the one on the passenger side

If you have not replaced the plugs before and you're at or over 80-100k miles the plugs will be hard to loosen. I try to spray some WD 40 down into the plug cavities on the engine and let it set for awhile to help loosen 'em up.

I did my plugs on a 2001 3.8 also from underneath the car without removing anything. I think I needed to use a closed end wrench because ratchet and socket would not fit. But the wrench worked fine.
