50's or 60's 3 speed of 4 speed??

i have an old transmission that i found in a pile of junk in the back 40. It is stamped with
F/94
8
GM
6273212

it looks to be a old 3 speed or a 4 speed. i'm looking to find out around what year and how how many gears it has. attached is a couple for a visual view.

It looks like a late '50s "truck" trans, probably a "granny gear" 4-speed.

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/sm420.htm

Check the link, most likely you have an SM420 Muncie box there. Deffo has the mountain goat 1st gear in it.
