Door lock switches

'05 Malibu Maxx... Doors will unlock and unlock with the transmitter and they work as designed when shifting into and out of Park, but recently the interior lock switches stopped working. So did the "delayed lock" function, and most annoying.... when I have to run in somewhere quick, and don't lock the doors with the transmitter, and come back and open a door or the gate, the alarm goes off. A new sound (I think the alarm activation chime) chimes a few seconds after a door is closed, whether or not even with the car running. The last weird symptom: When starting the car using remote start, the doors lock and unlock themselves randomly.

There don't appear to be any broken fuses. I was going to try disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours and reconnecting it but a friend said I'd better wait, and recommended this site.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Door lock switches

I think that this has been discussed in here before (if not in here, do a scan over in Edmund's, but I think it was in here). Check out older threads.

My hunch is that it's either a failing battery in your FOB or a BCM (Body Control Module) going bad.

My '04 Maxx has had the key FOB issues, but not the BCM troubles. The key FOBs just stopped working - I haven't had the weird things that you've mentioned. Good luck.
