A/C panel lighting

My A/C panel lighting has gone out. It sometimes comes back on, then goes out again. Anyone ever have this problem? Solution?
'97 Buick Park Ave, 3.8 V6.
Thanks.

Re: A/C panel lighting

Are your headlights set on automatic?

When your headlights go on, that panel goes dim.

Re: A/C panel lighting

I have the same problem with the replacement climate control unit that I got from a 98' park avenue. Only the lights don't work at all. On the climate control unit the lights still worked but it was bad. I only paid $12 for it so I can't complain and probably won't attempt to get it fixed or try to fix. Just happy to find one that worked. $900 stealership price tag. But there is a thread in the lesabre forum that says something about replacing the bulbs to fix this problem.

Thanks.

Are you talking about the numbers on the digital readout or the lights for the buttons and button names?

Digital lights that glow on the screen inbetween the push buttons for A/C controls.

If it's the digital numbers that are dim, I recall that there were problems with some digital readouts aging and dimming. Regal owners had taken out the control, 4 screws IIRC, and removed the back cover, then removed the one circuit board layer with a few screws, disconnected a cable to the circuit board underneath, and then resoldered little square black resistors to the circuit board and the lights were bright again.

I don't know if I have any links to that procedure anymore, nor do I know if it's what's wrong with the digital number readout in your case.

Re: A/C panel lighting

Thanks for the help. I just received the Service Manual I found on Ebay, so I'll be looking up what they suggest.
