Sputter on accelaration
99 Silverado 5.3 showing no check engine light. The truck starts and idles fine, but sputters on acceleration at around 2000 - 2500 rpm's. The sputtering will not stop until letting off throttle. The rpm at which it sputters seems to increase as the truck warms up. Does this in all gears including neutral and park (don't know about reverse). Thanks for any help

Re: Sputter on accelaration
Mine did this, but smoothed out when it warmed up. Finally saw a code for crank sensor - not too hard a fix and has run great ever since.

inside the engine is a metal toothed gear that could also be causing the problem,,,if the sensor is clean it is most likely the sensor.. I have found that when they go the resistance will increase,,measure and compare to new sensor... I think 3,000 ohm area.. |
