95 ram, cranks, no spark, no fuel

I have a 1995 Ram 1500 4X4, 5.9L. I parked it in my driveway and the next day it wouldnt start. I started checking some things out to try and diagnose whats going on. The check engine light comes on when I turn the key to the run position. All fuses have been checked and are good. The fuel pressure is within specs, I checked it with a gauge. I'm not getting any spark. I checked to see if the injectors were firing using an injector light. When I turn the key to the run position, all the injectors will pulse once, but they will not pulse while cranking. Sounded like the crankshaft position sensor went bad. I replaced the sensor tonight and still the same situation. There went 75.00 into the trash. Now I don't know where to turn. Thats where you guys come in to help. Any ideas on whats up?

Try the cam position sensor, and coil, and make sure all grounds are good everywhere.

It's under the dist. cap. Black flat plastic disc with a wire.

I pulled that black plastic disk off and looked it up, its telling me that its a Ignition Pick-up Assembly I don't believe this is the same as a cam sensor is it? Also when I call to try to find a cam sensor I'm being told that it does not have one.

just pull out the before cat 02 sensor and let it hang and try to start, cat may be plugged.

What does a plugged cat have to do with no spark and no fuel?

Re: 95 ram, cranks, no spark, no fuel

This sounds a lot like a previous problem for me. Mine was the "ignition pickup". Apparently the computer needs to see two signal spikes when cranking: one from the crank position sensor and one from the ( Hal effect ? sensor) in the distributor. Mine would vary and the two spikes would end up on top of each other and computer would not turn on the injectors.
Hope this helps.

Re: 95 ram, cranks, no spark, no fuel

it cranks? right?

Wierd. did you see that check engine light come on at any time when you put the key in.
it should come on for a second then go off.

that is how you can tell if your ecu is still good or not.
