Silverado 06 A/C

I have an 06 Silverado that with A/C on high just started smelling like an electrical short 2 days ago.Intermitantly shuts off now for a while & will eventually come back on. Any suggestions?

Re: Silverado 06 A/C

The blower shuts off or it doesn't blow cold air, just hot air?

Re: Silverado 06 A/C

If you have a manual heater than the blower motor resistor assembly has a high speed fan relay built into it. I would probably bet that something has gone wrong with this assembly. It is located near the blower motor and will have about 5 or 6 wires going to it. With the switch in the hi speed position there should be power at the red, orange, and purple wires at the resistor.
