How much Seafoam?

My '99 LSE burns a quart of oil about every 600-700 miles - more when driving at 70-75 mph. I switched to the Rotella oil the last couple of oil changes and haven't seen any real improvement.

I'm considering doing the Seafoam flush I've read about but I wanted to to get some advice from the experts.

It doesn't seem that anything that goes into the oil would really do much to clean out the drain holes that are apparently plugged up -- especially if it's only in there for a few minutes. How many oil changes will I need to add Seafoam before I start to see some results?

Is there anything better to use than Seafoam?

Will the Seafoam do any damage to the valve stem seals or any other internal engine parts?

Thanks!

Re: How much Seafoam?

If I were you I would try this product call Auto-RX first before seaform and replace PCV and clean EGR tube or Line and see how much improvement will you have. This is my 2 cent.

Re: How much Seafoam?

Every few months I feed about 1/4 bottle of seafoam through the pcv valve with the engine revving above idle. It really helps to clean out the combustion chamber. Lots of white smoke through the tail pipe, but it always feels peppier afterwards. I don't recall if it helps with oil consumption because it isn't a major problem for my rodeo. You could also use the brake booster line to suck up the seafoam. Not sure if one is better than the other.
