2001 front passenger signal not working

have a ford windstar the front passenger signal doesn't flash so I changed the bulb (2x)still got the fast clicking indicator and the message saying check front right signal light. worked on this for 2 days now the fog light below it lights up when I put the turn signal on so I use the switch manually to turn but the signal light stays dark...when I turn the lights on it lights up for my park lights but no flash..any ideas? checked all the other lights they work fine signals etc..took the back passenger light out to see if there was a power load on the system but no go front still does not flash..stumped

Hi, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you might have the same problem that was covered in this thread.

Scroll down to post #10 by WindstarOwner, and if you're lucky you might find you have the same fault, requiring the same easy fix. Let us know if that isn't the problem though and we can look into it further.

Awesome thanks very much Selectron ..went out and checked and I have the same bare spot in the exact same place as described!!..when it cools down outside I'll take the wires apart and see if there is a broken one in there..from what I can see it looks like it's my problem..
thankyou for the help

Excellent - pleased to hear it. Credit for that one goes to WindstarOwner for providing us with the detailed description of both the fault and the fix - it makes such a difference on here when we get some feedback, speaking of which, thanks for confirming that you appear to have the same wiring failure too - it will help others in the future.

Re: 2001 front passenger signal not working

thanks again!! just an update..(posted this in the other thread too..hope it helps someone)

thanks for this info..very helpful to me...although it wasn't my problem it was a great place to start!!!
just for some added info here..my van was doing the same thing ..had the same worn spot on the wire harness (beside the battery) but the wires themselves were fine...mine ended up being on the other side of the radiator..the rubber overflow pipe for the radiator was rubbing on the wire harness..made a pin hole in the wire casing and got wet then shorted out..spliced a new wire in and all good now
thank you again for the great help!!!

That's good; thanks for letting us know. That front passenger turn signal sure does appear to be a problem on the later models, so your additional information will help somebody else in the future.
