Memory seating is all jacked up

Today, the mechanic replaced my turn signal switch (a $632 repair ) and when I got the car back this evening, the memory seating doesn't work as it should. The memory functions operated perfectly when I dropped off the car (they do get used on our car).

Now, if you press Memory 1, the radio changes to my preferred stations, the mirrors move to my settings and the climate control shows my preferred temperature setting...all as they should. Pressing Memory 2 will change those settings to my wife's preferred settings...again, as they should. BUT, the seat won't move at all when any of the memory buttons are pushed. I am 6'0" and my wife is 5'0", so our seating positions are very different. I also have the Exit button set to an even different position than Memory 1 and Memory 2 positions. The power seat buttons on the side of the seat work fine...the seat motors work fine...it's just that the memory feature won't operate the seat.

I have tried redoing all of mine and my wife's settings. I have gone through the Driver Info Center to be sure it's all set the way we want it. I've even disconnected the battery in a futile attempt to "reboot" the car's computer. Nothing works.

Tomorrow, I will be calling the mechanic to report the issue and to request that he correct the problem, but I have a feeling that he will say that the turn signal switch repair has nothing to do with the memory seating and will say that it's just a coincidence that the memory seating has begun to malfunction when I picked up the car from his shop. I simply don't believe that's the case.

Has anyone every had this problem with their memory function? Does anybody have any info that can help me point my mechanic in the right direction?

Re: Memory seating is all jacked up

Fortunately, I got hold of the mechanic. He said his worker kept hitting certain buttons on the side of the seat. He asked me to bring the car in. He checked it and found that the lumbar button was jammed in the forward position and somehow, that was affecting the functionality of the seats. They took the seat switch off the seat, cleaned it and put it back together and it works fine...and now the memory settings will move the seats as they should.

So if your memory buttons don't move the seat...check the buttons on the side of the seat to see if any are stuck.

Thanks for the feedback to your own question; weird problem & weird solution! No other car in the world could have this happen! G.M. Wonders Whether You’d Really Rather Have a Buick?

Re: Memory seating is all jacked up

One question still remains though... If a car loses it's memory seating would that be considered a form of "auto alzheimers" or "auto dementia" ?
