2002 CRV starts then dies

I was getting on the highway the other day and I just lost power. I had it towed home and tried to figure out what was going on. It has the 2.4 engine. It will start then dies. I suspected a fuel problem so I gave it a shot of carb cleaner and it ran great for the couple of seconds it took to use the carb cleaner up. The fuel pump seems to be running OK so my next thought was a clogged fuel filter. Problem is I can't find one, and the auto parts stores don't have a listing for one. Also it seems I need an adapter to check fuel pump pressure. This seems to be a single fuel line system so it would seem that the pressure regulator may be in the tank? I am really striking out trying to get this fixed. Please help as I don't have the funds to take it to the dealer to be raped.
