running rough with engine light on

i have a 95 neon that is running rough and has the check engine light on (it seems like it is only running on 2 cyl but all spark plugs look fine) is there any way to read the error codes with out using a scanner i heard something about turning the key back and forth a few times and the light will flash and be able to interpret the codes that way anybody tell me how to do it and how many flashes are what code i know how to fix cars if i can only figure out what to fix

key on and off 3 times (turn key till dash lights turn on dont try to start the car) on the third time leave it. count the flashes.

flash flash flash flash - short pause - flash flash flash = code 43

longer pauses between numbers means a new code, the the light will stop flashing when all the codes are done.



When was the last time you changed the spark plugs and wires?

Does the check engine light flash?

You can go to autozone and they will retrieve the codes for free.
