How hard would it be to do a S2000 engine conversion in my 91 Civic HB SI? Would there have to be major changes done? Any price quotes?

taking two thing in consideration right off the bat it'd be big buck, one the size of the engine its self is way too large and two its RWD...

Like jeef said it is rwd. You gotta change your whole drivetrain. Of course you can do anything if you have the money, but it would not be an easy job. As for price I do not have one, but expect to pay a lot.

unless you got some mad cash and nothing better to do with it, i'd rather take the cash i'd spend on that, buy another crx, swap in a b18 and turbo it for cheaper than the swap
or if you really wanted to go that frankensine screw the 240 hp honda enigne and drop a 350 hp ls1 in there for less

The only time i would even think about attempting this swap is if i have 10g+ to spend and i could do all the work myself. The engine alone at hmotorsonline.com cost about 5k itself!!

I have a 350 LS1 out of a Vette in my back yard, I will just swap in that...lol So how about this. Rebuilding my D16A6 with low compression pistons (8.5-1), stage 3 clutch kit, T4 turbo, and rebuilt transmission. Sound like a better idea? I mean my T4 is tunable up to 30 psi. SO I'm thinkin with low comp pistons I would run about 20-25. I have a Mugen power chip, and a akimoto racing sport ram air intake. So after all that does anyone have any idea like what HP I would be pushing?

that sounds much more realistic... and mmmm personally i'd find an older trans-am with the 305, drop the 305 and put in the 350 hehe mmmm god bless american muscle

doug to run 20-25 pounds of boost you will need to do a lot to your engine. Do you plan to do any more work to the engine or just boost it because if you are just gonna add low comp. pistons then I would either run lower boost or do a lot more work to your block.

My god I'm sick of this stupid question popping up all the time. C&P from last time I saw it (it's called using the search option noobies!)
"I've said it before - the S2000 engine fires in the OPPOSITE direction to the FWD engines. Go figure: It WON'T work in FWD configuration unless you rotate the engine 180 degrees around the horizontal - in which case your gearbox will be facing the wrong direction - if you can adapt one to fit. You could have a very quick car... going backwards RWD it? Good luck! Those engine gearbox combos ain't small like their FWD counterparts. Why the hell would you bother wasting the money and effort?" |

I'll tell you why, itd be sick as fuck! I meen Larry got over 400 Whp out of one of those F20C's N/A! I would cum all over my leg if I ever saw a CRX light up the rear tires!
Here is what it would take, I looked into this as my next big thing. 1 You would need to tube frame the entire car including custom tube frame mounts. Looking at about $6000-8000 AT LEAST. Then everything must be clearanced... Its ok to cut away any metal neccerary since the whole car now has a super strong frame. I wouldnt sugest doing this yourself. Then you would need to put in the S2000 Fire wall for smog reasons, then you would have to take it to the Smog Reff and deal with him. All in all, after motor and all... Your looking @ about $20,000. I found a shop with big enough balls out here to do it The 6-8000 was what they quoted me Btw, you will also need a custom driveline and you will need just about everything off the S2000 as far as drivline and engine/cooling and so on. Project would be a year long at least! But the benifits would pay off in the end!

For the money I'd prefer a H22 in a EG and then do the internals and boost it. Currently one over here has spun 800 at the flywheel. Much easier.
Actually, I'd rather buy a real car which already had the horsepower stock than waste my money on a conversion I'd never get my money back on
