76 seville engine

were any 76 Sevilles made with fuel injected Pontiac 350 engines? My brother is convinced that the engine in his Seville is a pontiac block, the same as his 400, But from what I found they only had oldsmobiles.

Absolutely not, they were all 350 Olds blocks with primative Bosch fuel injection, or later on they converted the 350 Olds to diesel which was a disaster.

Oddly enough, for the diesel Cadillac era, the diesel 350 was the 'standard' engine, the gasoline engine was the option...... which, of course, goes against common car marketing tactics.

He is still convinced that it is a fuel injected pontiac 350 with a spider intake. I think he is . I can't convince him otherwise. Although, it could have been put in there. Who knows.

Tell him to google those Sevilles all the factory info is out there, I was a field trouble shooter for Cadillac back then, no Pontiac engines for sure.

Re: 76 seville engine

There is no way to diagnose this accurately on the net, , low fuel pressure, bad dist sensor/gov allowing only 4 cylinders to fire, you need to determine whether all 8 injectors are firing. You need a shop manual to get into this. Make sure you have vacuum to the map sensor at the port on the ecu under the center dash also.
