Getting 98' or 99' Eclipse
I am looking at buying either a 98' or a 99' Eclipse RS. I was just wondering if these two years of this car had a lot of available mods and upgrades for them.
Thank You |

Re: Getting 98' or 99' Eclipse
Not gonna get too many answers on that in the Eclipse 2000+ section.
![]() As far as models, there are several available. RS, GS, GST and GSX. The differences are that all the models are FWD except for the GSX which is AWD. Also the GST and GSX are turbocharged mitsubishi 2.0L's while the RS and GS are N/A Chrysler 2.0L's. The GS includes nicer features such as leather seats, power windows/lock, sport wheels, etc. While the RS is your plain Jane type of car with no extras. No power anything, cloth seats, 15" wheels, etc... The GST and GSX are the top end models. The only difference between the two are the FWD and AWD... All can be modified depending on how far you wish to take it. The GST and GSX have much better power gains when modified as opposed to the RS and GS. Although some people have turbocharged the RS and GS with aftermarket parts but still don't make quite as good gains in power as the GST and GSX... Also so you are aware, the Eagle Talon is the same car, just badged different. Eclipse RS, GS = Talon ESi Eclipse GST = Talon TSi Eclipse GSX = Talon TSi AWD
