Another one gone....

After months of pondering about replacing my 2000 Olds Intrigue, I finally pulled the trigger on Monday. I bought a 2006 Toyota Camry. I bought my Intrigue used with 61,000 miles and had 178,400 miles on the odometer when i traded it in. I thought about selling it instead of trading it in but too many things wrong with the trim, body, and interior to get anything worth the hassle.

I want to thank all of you for your help over the years. Not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but this forum helped me get comfortable with doing basic maintenance like oil changes and coolant flushes and tackling other bigger projects like changing the ignition switch and thermostat. I'll probably visit every once in a while to see if I can anyone with their Intrigue.

Thanks Again.

dtownfb--

Sorry to hear about your Intrigue, but it sounds like it was a good run. Your username comes up on a lot of forums when googling problems with the Intrigue. From this forum to the old Edmonds town hall forums.

Thanks for all the posting and help. I only hope I get the two Intrigues to that kind of mileage. The 2000 is starting to show it's mechanical age.

Take Care

Re: Another one gone....

I hang out on the Edmunds board quite a bit. over the last 2-3 years, I found more help on this forum though. So many of the regulars on the Edmunds forum got rid of their Intrigue. You all were quick with helping and troubleshooting. Like I mentioned, I learned a lot from this forum!

The secret to high miles on my Intrigue was my daily commute. I had a commute of 90 miles R/T and 65 miles R/T, mostly highway. Easier on the transmission. I just wish I could have qualified for the "Cash for Clunkers" program but I got a great deal on the Camry.

Thanks for you help over the years. Did you ever figure out if the Intrigue retarded the timing based on fuel octane ratings?

I still maintain that it doesnt! haha, lets not dig that hatchet up again.

Im sure the Camry will treat you well, at least they arent just hideous, I think theyre actually good lookin cars, and lets face it Toyota is doing a lot better than GM at the moment.

Good luck in wherever life takes you!

Re: Another one gone....

Thanks littlehoov. The Camry is pretty boring looking but it rides very smooth. Acceleration is not too far behind the Intrigue. It's interesting that the Intrigue is 5 inches longer but the Camry has more interior space. Go figure.

Without all of your help, I would have given up on the Intrigue a long time ago.
