Just a few days ago, I mishandled a glass cup and gouged a fairly deep suture into the palm of my left hand. It was stapled and stitched up for healing and I can barely use it for anything (even typing this is a nearly impossible). I haven't had my dosage of GT3 for 2 days now, and I NEED to play. Do any of you have any suggestions on how to play with only your right hand? I have been considering setting the right up/down/left/right analog stick to control both accel/brake & steer left/right, but what about the other functions? I might make L1 and L2 as gearshifting, but automatic might be a better choice... got any ideas?

Oh man, you poor bastard.
Thats a real tricky problem you've got yourself into. Are you able to use the hand at all? to say use your wrist to push a control stick? Auto is a must, then use your damaged hand to push on control stick forward and back for acc and brake, then steer with your good hand. You'll have to sit the controled on your lap though, and maybe stick to driving the slower cars. If you can't use the hand at all, then it becomes tricky.... Again Auto is a must... ummm, ok, Use R1 and R2 for accl and Brake, and then use the R analoge stick for steering. Good luck, and I hope the hand gets better fast.

I suggest you first, choose automatic as shifting is definitely out of the question. Second, keep the analog for steering. Use the regular accelarator/brake buttons. Then set the controller on a table or something, where it won't move. Then, with your thumb you can steer and use your index and middle finger for accel/brakes. I've done and it works. It's a little awkward at first, but you'll eventually get used to it and drive like your using two hands.

Thanks for the help guys. It's much appreciated.
I've tried all your methods, and they all seem to work pretty well; each just takes a few laps to get used to. And obviously auto is a must. My left hand can't grip anything, but you are both right, I can make simple movements to control the left analog stick if done carefully. I just cranked up the TCS and ASM for the tougher cars as not to spin out and worry about messing around with reverse. Once again, thanks. Haha, I was thinking to myself, would NOW be a good time to get the Logitech GT-Force steering wheel? I could simply use my feet for the go/stop and my right hand for all steering, and simply use automatic... Maybe this happened for a reason. |
