Ipc 97 ga se

I believe my problem from prior posts is the IPC. Will get one from the salvage yard this weekend. Another question. As long as the new IPC has the gauges and not just idiot lights, will one from a 96,97 or 98 work?
Thanks Larry

Re: Ipc 97 ga se

It must have the same guage style as the one you're replacing.
Though one could possibly run extra wires to/from the ECU to the newr gauge(s) to the appropriate sensor(s). Ive seen it done on other cars/trucks but not with a GA. You would need the pin out for the ECU/ECM.

And when you replace the IPC you'll probly need to do a security relearn. Just key "on" for 15 mins or so untill the security light stops flashing or comes on, if its off when key is turned to "on".

This is a typical issue with this model. I wouldnt be surprised if the salvage yard one will do the same thing at some point. They do sell refurbished(fixed) ones on the internet.

Re: Ipc 97 ga se

Ok, picked up an IPC from the salvage yard. Now I cant figure out how to get the connectors out. The large one has a gray piece on the bottom & a blue one on the top. The smaller plug is black. Can't figure it out.
Thanks Larry

Re: Ipc 97 ga se

Got it. The black connector has kind of an inverted "U" shaped thingy you raise & pull the plug out. The large connector on the gray piece move the 2 tabs out & remove it, then press down on the blue tab & pull out to remove the connector. Working this out made my brain housing group hurt.

Re: Ipc 97 ga se

Glad you got it !

Those connectors are made so they dont come unplugged accidently.
You would think they'd make them all the same, but that's how it goes.

So have you fired it up yet to see how it works ?
