beeping when indicating left

My 2001 Primera dashboard display freaked out turning on the rear view camera when braking and sounding the seatbelt warning beeper in sync with the indicator when indicating left. The beep sounds only once when indicating right. The rear camera trick is now intermittent but the beeping indicator has decided to stay.

Everything else works so this is more annoying than serious. As the car has recently been serviced I don't want to wait until the next service to fix it and I don't want to spend a day at the garage fixing something that is not serious.

I read somewhere that I should disconnect the lock timer unit for 5 minutes but don't know where to find such a thing.

This has all the signs of a microprocessor problem but where is the reset button? Considered treating it like a PC and power cycling it by pulling the main fuse but with so many electronics I wouldn't be surprised if I needed a boot disk or something just to get it going again.

Bah!

Re: beeping when indicating left

My 2002 Primera is the same. After a rain storm reverse camera came on when breaking, now turn left to the sound of the seat belt alarm beep beep beep. But only once when turning right.

Local garage sorted camera cheap enough but can't stop beeping. Driving me mental.. Dont want to go to Nissan dealer but running out of choices

Re: beeping when indicating left

It's a Primera thing caused by faulty wiring, probably an earth, somewhere in the serial comms they are using (trying out) in the Primera

"CAN (Controller Area Network) is a serial communication line for real time application. It is an on-vehicle multiplex communication line with high data communication speed and excellent error detection ability. Many electronic
control units are equipped onto a vehicle, and each control unit shares information and links with other control units during operation (not independent). In CAN communication, control units are connected with 2 communication lines (CAN H line, CAN L line) allowing a high rate of information transmission with less wiring. Each control unit transmits/receives data but selectively reads required data only"

The dealer fix is to replace the rear light cluster and loom and reset the Body Control Module at a cost of £260.

I recommend that you join the Nissan Primera Owners Club
