Ide Speed Controller Reading On Service Engine Light
I have a 1998 Windstar and the light came on. I had the code read and it indicated an issue with the idle speed control but I didn't get the exact code. Does anyone know what possible problems this could indicate? Thanks.

Re: Ide Speed Controller Reading On Service Engine Light
It maybe your idle air control valve.. You can first try to clean it.. If that does not work replace it with a motorcraft one..

Re: Ide Speed Controller Reading On Service Engine Light
Thanks for the reply. Is the Idle Air Control Valve a separate part from the Idle Speed Controller or the Idle Speed Control Actuator?

Re: Ide Speed Controller Reading On Service Engine Light
Hello-
Yes - the idle speed control is a seperate unit. The general symptom of this problem is the inability of the engine to idle. It will start - but unless you have a foot on the gas pedal - it will stall out. You may want to get the exact code before you just start replacing parts. Good Luck Glenn |
