68 Malibu convertable

Hello,
I am a new member here, Look like a very interesting forum. Anyway, My 68 has a (72) 350,I started having charging problem's, Took the battery out and had it checked! They said battery was good, Bought a ext regulator and put that on, No luck, Still only charges a little over 10 volt's!

Getting discusted, Must be the alternator, Took it off and matched it up at the part's house, Put it on with same outcome a little over 10 volts! Then it dawned on me that my car has a external and internal regulator

It look's like the previos owner wired it for a internal reg. Now after all the new parts, to get it to charge I have the old ext. plus the new internal regulator's plugged in!!! Any ideas?

DO NOT USE TWO REGULATORS!!!!! Bad things will happen. Check all connections negative post to inner fender....engine block to fire wall.....On internally regulated alternators you run a wire from the field (bolt) terminal on the back of the alternator to the battery, Then run a jumper wire from that bolt straight to the closest electrical terminal on the alternator then the last remaining terminal you run a wire to a ignition switch with power on in the run position.
